A: I don’t understand why you don’t like Johnny. He seems like a nice boy.

B: Maybe so, but his father is an ex-con and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

A: 난 너가 왜 Jonny를 안 좋아하는지 이해가 안가. 그는 좋은 아이처럼 보이는데.

B: 그럴지도 모르지만, 그의 아빠는 죄수자였어, 그 피는 못 속이지.

 

The apple does not fall far from the tree : 이 표현은 한 아이가 행동이나 외모 둘 다 자신의 부모와 비슷하게 자라난다는 것을 의미한다.
