B: Well, you know what they say, in this world nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes.

A: 국세청이 너에게 압력을 가했다고 들었어.

B: 음, 이런 말 있잖아. 이 세상에서 죽음과 세금만큼 확실한 건 없다고.

 

Put the screws to: 자신이 원하는 대로 하려고 위협을 가한다는 뜻. 과거에는 일반나사나 나비나사로 사람들의 엄지손가락을 죄고 으스러뜨리는 방식으로 고문했다. In this world nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes: 벤저민 프랭클린이 남긴 명언으로 세금은 피할 길이 없음을 강조한 말.
